Barbara Franke

Barbara Franke, born in 1944 in Zweibrücken, was a teacher and a qualified educationalist. She published poetry and short prose and also wrote for school theater. Her work includes four books of her own; additional texts appeared in literary journals, anthologies, and almanacs. Franke was a founding member of the Zweibrücken Authors’ Group and a member of the Association of German Writers (VS). Among her distinctions were third prize in the Mannheim Short Story Competition in 2002, fourth prize in the Südwestpfalz District Adult Education Center literary competition in 2007, second prize in the same competition in 2011, and fifth prize in the Lotto Art Prize in 2015. She also received several awards in dialect competitions.
