Artur Becker, born in 1968 as Artur Bekier in Bartoszyce, Poland, is a German-Polish writer, poet, essayist and translator. He has lived in Germany since 1985 and has published in German since 1989. He made his literary debut with poetry in 1984; his first novel, “Der Dadajsee,” appeared in 1997. His works include “Wodka und Messer. Lied vom Ertrinken” (2008), “Der Lippenstift meiner Mutter” (2010) and “Drang nach Osten” (2019). Becker has published more than 20 books. He received the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize in 2009 and the DIALOG Prize of the German-Polish Association in 2012.
