Annette Kehnel

Annette Kehnel studied history and biology at the University of Freiburg, Somerville College Oxford and LMU Munich. During her doctoral studies at Trinity College Dublin, she researched Irish monastic communities. She subsequently worked at TU Dresden, where she completed her habilitation in 2004. In 2005, she took up the chair of medieval history at the University of Mannheim. Her research focuses on cultural and economic history as well as historical anthropology. Her book *Wir konnten auch anders* (2021) became a Spiegel bestseller and received the NDR Non-Fiction Book Award.
