Yayo Kawamura

Yayo Kawamura was born in 1967 and grew up between Germany and Tokyo. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, she moved to Berlin, where she studied communication design. She worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer, illustrating numerous children’s and young adult books and developing picture-book series for beginning readers. After the birth of her daughter, she returned to her original ambition of illustrating children’s books. Her published work includes, among others, “Ich, Luisa, Königin der ganzen Welt” (2015, text by Claudia Schreiber).
