Yasar Kemal

Yaşar Kemal (1923–2015) was a Turkish writer. He was born in a village in southern Anatolia. His works were published in numerous languages and received international recognition. In 1997 he was awarded the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, and in 2008 he received the Turkish State Prize. Kemal died in Istanbul on 28 February 2015.
