Wulf Bertram

Wulf Bertram (1948–2025), a qualified psychologist and medical doctor, was born in Soest, Germany, and studied psychology, medicine and sociology in Hamburg. After working as a clinical psychologist at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf and completing psychiatric training, he moved into medical publishing in the mid-1980s. In 1988 he became scientific director of Schattauer Verlag and served as its publishing managing director from 1992. Bertram also worked as a psychotherapist and trained in conversational, behavioral and psychodynamic psychotherapy. In 2009 he conceived the paperback series “Wissen & Leben”. He received the Margrit Egnér Foundation’s science prize in 2018 for his scientifically grounded work in publishing. He died in spring 2025.
