Wolfgang Knape was born in Stolberg/Harz in 1947. He studied scientific librarianship and at the Institute of Literature in Leipzig. He worked as a freelance writer and published numerous travel books, biographies, children’s books, and humorous stories. He also wrote radio plays for children and adults. His work focused particularly on central German regions and the people who live or lived there.
