Werner Holzwarth

Werner Holzwarth, born in 1947 in Winnenden near Stuttgart, studied at the Berlin University of the Arts, graduating with a degree in advertising. He worked as an advertising copywriter for major agencies and as a journalist in South America, and in 1990 co-founded his own advertising agency. From 1995, he was a professor of visual communication at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. He became widely known for his 1989 picture book *The Story of the Little Mole Who Knew It Was None of His Business*, illustrated by Wolf Erlbruch and translated into numerous languages. In 1999, Holzwarth adapted the story as a musical and received the German music schools’ “Good Music for Children” media prize.
