Vinciane Despret

Vinciane Despret, born in 1959 in Anderlecht, Belgium, is a Belgian philosopher of science. She taught at the universities of Liège and Brussels and received her doctorate from Isabelle Stengers in 1997. Her work examines how scientists investigate their research subjects in practice and make them interesting. Among other topics, she studied the behavior of ethologists in New Zealand and Israel. In 2021, she received the Prix Moron from the Académie française for her body of work.
