Viet Thanh Nguyen

Viet Thanh Nguyen was born in South Vietnam in 1971 and fled to the United States with his parents after the fall of Saigon in 1975. He studied English and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and received his doctorate in 1997. He subsequently worked as a university lecturer at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. His debut novel, “The Sympathizer,” received the Pulitzer Prize and the Edgar Award in 2016.
