Vera Brittain (1893–1970) was a British writer, feminist, and pacifist. She studied English literature at Oxford, leaving her studies in 1915 to work as a volunteer nurse during the First World War. After the war, she became politically active in support of feminism and pacifism and served, among other roles, as a speaker for the League of Nations Union, the Peace Pledge Union, and the Anglican Pacifist Fellowship. Her work includes autobiographical novels and political writings.
