Valerie Solanas (born 1936 in Atlantic City) initially studied psychology and later traveled throughout the United States. In Manhattan, she wrote the “S.C.U.M. Manifesto” and the play “Up Your Ass.” There she met Andy Warhol, who invited her to his Factory. In 1968, Solanas shot Warhol three times, seriously injuring him.
