Ulrich Meier, born in Blomberg in 1948, is a German historian. He studied mathematics and physics at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences in Education and philosophy and history at Bielefeld University. After earning his doctorate in medieval history and completing his habilitation, he was appointed an außerplanmäßiger Professor at Bielefeld University in 2009. His research focuses include Italian and German urban history, political theory in the Middle Ages and the early modern period, and political iconography. His publications include “Mensch und Bürger. Die Stadt im Denken spätmittelalterlicher Theologen, Philosophen und Juristen” (1994).
