Trude Egger

Trude Egger was born in Carinthia in 1940. She worked as a journalist, writing reportage, travel features and columns for various newspapers and for Austrian broadcaster ORF. Her first book was published by Scherz-Verlag when she was 48. Alongside her writing, she worked in travel agencies and as a tour guide. She travelled extensively on all continents, mostly to exotic destinations, often alone and on modest means. At the age of 18, she moved to Australia and returned to Austria several years later, following a three-month journey through the outback.
