Thomas Melle (born in Bonn in 1975) studied comparative literature and philosophy in Tübingen, Austin, and Berlin. He worked as a writer, playwright, and translator of English-language literature, including works by William T. Vollmann. His debut novel, “Sickster” (2011), was nominated for the German Book Prize and received the Franz Hessel Prize. His novels “3000 Euro” (2014) and “The World at Your Back” (2016) were both shortlisted for the German Book Prize. Melle also wrote numerous plays; “Unheimliches Tal / Uncanny Valley,” created in collaboration with Rimini Protokoll, premiered at the Münchner Kammerspiele in 2018.
