Thomas Kielinger

Thomas Kielinger was born in Danzig in 1940. He worked as a journalist for the German daily Die Welt and served as its foreign correspondent in the United States from 1977 to 1985. After returning to Germany, he became editor-in-chief of the Rheinischer Merkur and went freelance as an author and adviser in 1995. He subsequently reported from London for Die Welt for almost two decades. Kielinger has written books on Britain and biographies of Winston Churchill and Elizabeth II. In 1995, he was appointed an Honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to German-British relations. His other honors include the Theodor Wolff Prize.
