Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, born in Tibet in 1961, is a tulku, a lama regarded in Tibetan Buddhism as consciously reincarnated, and a teacher of the Bön tradition. After fleeing to India with his parents, he trained as a meditation master and received the Geshe degree, the highest academic title in the Tibetan tradition. In 1986, the Dalai Lama appointed him official representative of the Bön tradition in the Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputies. Wangyal Rinpoche went to the United States in 1991 and founded the Ligmincha Institute there. He was among the early teachers to introduce Bön teachings to Western audiences.
