Tamara Bach was born in Limburg an der Lahn in 1976 and studied English and German in Berlin to become a teacher. Her debut novel, “Marsmädchen,” received the Oldenburg Children’s and Young People’s Book Prize as an unpublished manuscript and was also awarded the German Youth Literature Prize. Her other works include “Was vom Sommer übrig ist,” “Marienbilder,” and “Vierzehn.” In 2013, “Was vom Sommer übrig ist” received the Catholic Children’s and Young People’s Book Prize. “Marienbilder” was included on the 2014 White Ravens international selection list, while “Vierzehn” was nominated in two categories for the German Youth Literature Prize. In 2021, Bach received the James Krüss Prize for her literary oeuvre.
