Suzanne Collins, born on 10 August 1962 in Hartford, Connecticut, is an American author of children’s and young adult fiction. She began her career in the early 1990s as a screenwriter for American children’s television. In 2003, she published „Gregor the Overlander“, the first volume in a five-part adventure series. She gained international recognition with the dystopian trilogy „The Hunger Games“, comprising „The Hunger Games“, „Catching Fire“ and „Mockingjay“. The novels received multiple awards and were adapted into successful films. Collins studied, among other subjects, theatre and playwriting.
