Susan Abulhawa

Susan Abulhawa was born in 1970 to Palestinian refugee parents. She grew up in Kuwait, Jordan, and Jerusalem and moved to the United States as a teenager, where she studied biomedicine. Abulhawa is the author of several novels, including the German-titled works »Während die Welt schlief« and »Ihr letzter Tanz«. »Während die Welt schlief« was translated into 30 languages, and »Ihr letzter Tanz« was nominated for the Aspen Words Literary Prize. In 2001, she founded the children’s organization Playgrounds for Palestine.
