Stephan Urbach

Stephan Urbach was born in 1980 in Lauterbach, Hesse. He initially studied German and history to become a secondary-school teacher in Frankfurt am Main, then completed vocational training as a bank and savings-bank clerk. From 2011 to February 2014, he worked as an adviser to the Pirate Party parliamentary group in Berlin’s House of Representatives. He was also involved with the activist group Telecomix, which gained international attention in connection with protests in Egypt and the early stages of the civil war in Syria. Urbach was a member of the Pirate Party until 2013.
