Stefanie Harjes

Stefanie Harjes, born in Bremen in 1967, studied at the Fachhochschule Hamburg and the Hochschule für Angewandte Künste in Prague. She worked as an illustrator and book artist, illustrating numerous books and anthologies, many of which were also published abroad. Her work received several awards, including the Austrian State Prize for Illustration, the special prize of the Troisdorf Picture Book Award, the Styrian Literature Prize and second prize from Stiftung Buchkunst. In 2009, she became the first woman to receive the Hamburg Teaching Award. She was nominated several times for the German Youth Literature Prize, including in 2015 for “Konstantin im Wörterwald”.
