Stefan Andres (1906–1970) was a German writer and is regarded as one of the important representatives of the “inner emigration.” He was widely read after the Second World War. His best-known works include the “Sintflut” trilogy, “El Greco malt den Großinquisitor” (1936), “Wir sind Utopia” (1943), and “Der Knabe im Brunnen” (1953).
