Siobhan Dowd

Siobhan Dowd was born in London and came from County Waterford in Ireland, where she spent much of her childhood. After completing her schooling in London, she studied at Oxford and worked as an editor for PEN International and as a freelance writer. Her debut novel was shortlisted for the German Youth Literature Prize, and she received the Carnegie Medal for her third book for young readers. Siobhan Dowd died of cancer in 2007.
