Sinthujan Varatharajah (born 1985) is an essayist and political geographer. Varatharajah studied political geography and worked for several years with human rights organizations in London and Berlin. From 2017 to 2018, Varatharajah served on the board of the European Commission’s Advisory Council on Asylum. Varatharajah also participated in the 11th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art with the research and art installation “how to move an arche”. The debut novel “an alle orte die hinter uns liegen” was published by Hanser in 2022.
