Shusaku Endo

Shūsaku Endō (1923–1996) was a Japanese writer. He studied French literature in Japan and Catholic literature in France. His best-known novels include Silence, Samurai, and Scandal. Among other honors, he received the Akutagawa Prize, one of Japan’s most prestigious literary awards.
