Sebastian Stuertz, born in 1974 and raised near Lake Steinhude, initially worked as a musician for several years before turning to writing. He published novels, radio plays and music, and worked in film and television, including as an animator of graphics. His debut novel, *Das eiserne Herz des Charlie Berg*, was published in 2020, received the Hamburg Literature Advancement Award and was a finalist for the Klaus-Michael Kühne Prize. His audio miniseries *Ruslan aus Marzahn* appeared in 2021 and was nominated for the German Audiobook Award.
