Ein verborgenes Leben received the Costa Book of the Year Award; Mein fernes, fremdes Land won the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction, and Ein langer, langer Weg was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Tage ohne Ende became an international bestseller and also received the Costa Book of the Year Award.
