Saou Ichikawa

Saou Ichikawa (born 1979) studied at Waseda University’s School of Human Sciences. Her debut novel, “Hunchback,” became a bestseller and received the 128th Bungakukai Prize and the 169th Akutagawa Prize. Ichikawa was the first author with a physical disability to receive the Akutagawa Prize. She was born with congenital myopathy and relies on a ventilator and an electric wheelchair.
