Sandra Newman

Sandra Newman, born in Boston in 1965, is the author of several novels and nonfiction books. Her debut novel, The Only Good Thing Anyone Has Ever Done, was shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award. Her notable works also include Ice Cream Star, Himmel, and Julia, published in German in 2023. Newman’s books have been nominated for, among others, the Folio Prize, the Women’s Prize for Fiction, and the Guardian First Book Award. She lived in London for 20 years before returning to the United States.
