Samuel Selvon

Samuel Selvon was born in Trinidad in 1923 and was a writer. He published his early short stories under pseudonyms such as Ack-Ack and Big Buffer. In 1950 he moved to London, where he established himself as an internationally recognised literary voice. His novel *Die Taugenichtse* introduced a distinctive narrative style. Selvon also wrote television scripts for the BBC. In 1978 he left London for Canada. He died in Trinidad in 1994.
