Ruth Rendell

Ruth Rendell (1930–2015) was a British author. Born in London, she initially worked as a journalist before devoting herself to writing novels. She published more than sixty books, some under the pseudonym Barbara Vine. Her work earned her, among other distinctions, three Edgar Allan Poe Awards and four Golden Dagger Awards. In 1997, she received the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America. She was also made a peer by Queen Elizabeth II.
