Rudolf Simek (born 1954) is a German medievalist and professor emeritus of Old Germanic Studies, including Scandinavian studies, at the University of Bonn. His research focuses on Germanic mythology and religious history, the medieval languages and cultures of Scandinavia, and medieval German and Scandinavian literature. He has published numerous books, including the Lexikon der germanischen Mythologie, Lexikon der altnordischen Literatur (with Hermann Pálsson), Artus-Lexikon and Die Schiffe der Wikinger, and has translated Old Icelandic sagas. In 2013, he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Rzeszów.
