Robert Zimmer, born in 1953, studied philosophy and English and received his doctorate in 1989 with a dissertation on Edmund Burke. From 1982 to 1991, he was a research associate at the universities of Saarbrücken and Düsseldorf, and from 1992 to 1996 he taught at Freie Universität Berlin and Technische Universität Berlin. He subsequently worked as a freelance nonfiction author and writer. His publications include a biography of Arthur Schopenhauer (2010), “Leben als Versuch und Irrtum” (2016), and “Weltklugheit” (2020).
