Robert Seethaler

Robert Seethaler, born in Vienna in 1966, is a writer and screenwriter. His debut novel, *Die Biene und der Kurt*, received the Buddenbrook House Debut Prize in 2007. His best-known novels include *The Tobacconist*, *A Whole Life*, *The Field* and *The Last Sentence*. *A Whole Life* was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize and received the Grimmelshausen Prize. Seethaler’s books have been translated into more than 40 languages. The screenplay for *The Second Woman* received several awards, and *The Tobacconist* was adapted for film in 2018, starring Bruno Ganz.
