Robert Harris, born in Nottingham in 1957, studied at the University of Cambridge. He subsequently worked as a BBC reporter, political editor of the Observer, and columnist for the Sunday Times and the Daily Telegraph. In 2003, he received the British Press Award for his newspaper columns. After publishing several works of nonfiction, he released his first novel, Fatherland, in 1992. His other international bestsellers include Enigma, Pompeii, Imperium, The Ghost, Dictator, Conclave, and Munich. For the screenplay of the film adaptation of The Ghost, released as The Ghost Writer, Harris received the French César Award and the European Film Award.
