Robert Barr

Robert Barr was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1854 and emigrated to Canada with his parents as a child. After working as a teacher, he attended the Toronto Normal School in 1873 and became principal of Windsor’s Central School in 1874. During the 1870s, he published humorous contributions under the pseudonym “Luke Sharp.” In 1876, he joined the Detroit Free Press, first as a reporter and later as a columnist.
