Ricardas Gavelis

Ričardas Gavelis (1950–2002) was a Lithuanian writer. After studying theoretical physics, he worked at the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and also worked as a journalist. He made his literary debut with a collection of short stories in 1976 and subsequently published numerous works of prose, plays, and screenplays. His best-known work is the 1989 novel Vilnius Poker, regarded as a literary milestone of modern Lithuania.
