Rebecca Solnit (born 1961) is an American essayist and activist. She studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and has published numerous essays and books on social, political, and environmental issues. Her notable works include *Men Explain Things to Me*, *Call Them by Their True Names*, and *Orwell’s Roses*. Her essay *Men Explain Things to Me* helped popularize the term “mansplaining.” Solnit has received numerous honors, including the National Book Critics Circle Award.
