Ralf Alef studied music in Vienna, toured as a musician, and spent several years working in Sweden. In 1992, he moved into television, initially working as a music editor and later as a writer and director for various ARD formats, including “Geld oder Liebe!”, “Schmidteinander”, “Quarks & Co”, and “Tiere suchen ein Zuhause”. In 2001, he co-founded Dogtale Movies with his then-wife Petra, a platform for animal film productions. His work at the Eberhard Trumler Station of the Society for Pet Research inspired the film “Von der Hand in die Welt – Das A-Z des Hundes”. According to his own account, he has produced around 50 films about dogs and horses.
