Philip Matyszak (born 1958) is a British nonfiction author. He studied ancient history at the University of London and received a doctorate in Roman history from St John’s College, Oxford. He worked as a journalist and freelance writer, specializing in the ancient world. His main subjects include the history of ancient Rome—particularly the late Republic and early Empire—as well as classical Greece. He also taught ancient history at the University of Cambridge’s Institute of Continuing Education.
