Peter Wensierski

Peter Wensierski (born 1954) studied political science, history and journalism at Freie Universität Berlin. From 1979, he reported on East Germany as a journalist and documentary filmmaker, initially working as a travel correspondent. From 1986 to 1993, he was a television journalist with ARD, and subsequently worked in the Germany section of Der Spiegel. His books include »Von oben nach unten wächst gar nichts« (1986), »Schläge im Namen des Herrn« (2006), »Die verbotene Reise« (2014) and »Die unheimliche Leichtigkeit der Revolution« (2017). His journalistic and documentary work earned him, among other honors, the German Film Award, the European Television Award and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
