Peter Walter (1950–2019), Dr. theol., was a Catholic priest and theologian. After studying in Mainz and Rome, he received his doctorate in Rome in 1980 and completed his habilitation in Tübingen in 1989. From 1990 onward, he was Professor of Dogmatics and the History of Dogma at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Freiburg. He also directed the department for source studies in medieval theology, the Raimundus Lullus Institute.
