Peter Strohschneider (born 1955) is a literary scholar and medievalist. He taught at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where he was a professor of German medieval studies. From 2006 to 2011, he served as chair of the German Council of Science and Humanities. From 2013 to 2019, he was president of the German Research Foundation (DFG). He also chaired the Commission on the Future of Agriculture.
