Paul Lynch, born in Limerick in 1977, grew up in County Donegal. From 2007 to 2011, he was chief film critic for the Irish newspaper the Sunday Tribune and also wrote regularly for the Sunday Times, before becoming a full-time writer. His novels include Red Sky in Morning (2013), The Black Snow (2014), Grace (2017), Beyond the Sea (2019) and Prophet Song (2023). The Black Snow won France’s booksellers’ prize for the best foreign novel and was nominated for the Prix Fémina. Prophet Song received the 2023 Booker Prize.
