Patricia Purtschert

Patricia Purtschert is a philosopher and cultural scholar. From 2001 to 2002, she worked as an assistant in the Gender Studies department at the University of Basel, and from 2002 to 2004 she was a visiting scholar with Judith Butler at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2005, she received a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Basel with a dissertation on Eurocentrism and androcentrism in Hegel and Nietzsche. A research fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation took her to Université Paris X, Nanterre, in 2006–2007 and to Humboldt University of Berlin in 2008–2009. Her fields of work include feminist theory, gender studies, and postcolonial perspectives on Switzerland.
