Pablo Alabarces

Pablo Alabarces (born 1961 in Buenos Aires) is a sociologist who earned a PhD from the University of Brighton. He taught at the University of Buenos Aires and worked as a researcher at Argentina’s CONICET. His work focuses on popular culture, football cultures, national identity, stadium violence, and Argentine rock music. His books include “Fútbol y Patria” (2002), “Resistencias y mediaciones” (2008, as editor), “Héroes, machos y patriotas” (2014), and “Historia Mínima del Fútbol en América Latina” (2018). In 2018, “Héroes, machos y patriotas” received the second National Prize for Sociological Essays. He was a CALAS fellow in 2020.
