Ortrud Gutjahr (born 1954) taught as a professor of modern German literature and intercultural literary studies at the University of Hamburg. There, she headed the Centre for Intercultural Literary and Media Studies and founded the Hamburg Guest Professorship for Intercultural Poetics. Her research covered literature of the eighteenth century, literature from around 1900 to the present, intercultural literary and media studies, theatre studies, and psychoanalytic literary theory. She also devoted extensive scholarly work to the writing of Emine Sevgi Özdamar.
