Olivia Laing

Olivia Laing, born in 1977, is a non-binary writer and critic. Laing studied English literature at the University of Sussex, but left the course to live for a time in a tree in the wilderness and earn a diploma in herbal medicine before turning to journalism. In 2018, Laing received the Windham-Campbell Prize and became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Laing’s books include To the River, The Lonely City, Crudo, Everybody, and The Garden Against Time.
