Olaf Scholz

Olaf Scholz, born in Osnabrück in 1958, is a German politician. He grew up in Hamburg, where he studied law and worked as a lawyer. From 2011 to 2018, he served as First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. He was deputy federal chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) from 2009 to 2019. In 2021, he ran as the SPD’s candidate for chancellor in the federal election. His book “Hoffnungsland” was his first publication.
